Fishing in Thailand
Fishing in Thailand is becoming more and more popular activity and soon it could be possible to say that fishing tourism is a branch of the tourism industry as a whole. Generally fishing tourism can be divided in two major categories – freshwater and saltwater – which both can be practiced in Thailand. Every resort in Thailand has more than enough fishing holiday clubs to choose from. You have to decide where to go and what type of fishing you want – open sea fishing, lake fishing, river fishing, reservoir fishing etc.
The most popular destinations for fishing tourism in Thailand are the well known resorts of Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Tao, Koh Samui or in Bangkok, Chinag Mai, Chinag Rai, Kanchanaburi. Some of species you can expect can be seen only there like Giant Mekong Catfish, Red-Tail Catfish, Giant Siamese Carp, Niger Catfish, Arapaima, Red-Tail Tiger Catfish, Jullien's Golden Prize Carp, Aligator Gar , Red-Tail Leopard Catfish and many more. Remember that this is sport fishing and in most cases you have to return the fish back in the water. Of course you can take it out from the water to document the event and to take a picture.
