Cave Diving in Thailand

As the geography is mainly of lime stone and karst formations, there is huge variety of spots for cave diving in Thailand. However the best places to practise cave diving in Thailand is the Andaman Sea – around Phuket /Phi Phi Island with the Maya Cavern/, Ao Nang /20km or 12 miles away from Krabi/, Hin Daeng /Red Rock/ and Hin Mouang /Purple Rock/ - about 65km or 40 miles away from Phuket, also Surin Islands, Similan Islands and Butang Islands. Some cave diving tours have a short pre-diving course including some basic introduction to cave diving, basic skills, dive planning, swimming techniques, emergency procedures and others. In the end you can receive a special certificate for diving.

You have to bear in mind that cave diving is something different from snorkeling or skin-diving or as we all know it just diving. So it is recommendable if you are beginner to attend the course before you get deep underwater to be explained the basic ideas about cave diving. And don’t forget to take photos as Thailand has some of the best underwater cave sights in the world.
